Biscottificio Cascone

It was founded in 1908 when Vincenzo Cascone and his wife Carmela opened a bakery for the production of bread and sea biscuits, the famous Castellammare Galletta, which sailors used to take on board as food because of its long shelf life.

Later, in the 1920s, with the birth of their daughters, the production was enriched with the typical biscuits with the unmistakable aroma of butter and vanilla, and the "frullo" was born, a shortbread biscuit covered with icing sugar, ideal for dipping in milk.

The production expanded under the management of the daughter Luisa Cascone, mother of the famous coxswain Peppiniello di Capua, Olympic gold medallist in the golden years of Italian rowing with the Abbagnale brothers.

Today, Peppiniello's sons, Vincenzo and Francesco, are at the helm of the company and, in addition to producing the traditional biscuits, which have always been wrapped in the unmistakable blue and yellow packaging, the colours of the flag of the town of Castellammare di Stabia (the blue of the sea and the yellow of the sun), they bake tarallini with icing, savoury tarallini, typical Neapolitan cakes, the pastiera, castagnole, almond paste, lemon, orange and chocolate cakes and rustici, such as the typical casatiello with cicoli.
